The Ford Focus 2012 Review of the company’s hottest selling vehicle at the Paris Motor Show impressed the crowds with a reported 40 miles per gallon highway fuel consumption, an improvement of 18% over the current model. The Ford Focus 2012 review gives this compact the title of the most fuel-efficient car in its category and provides Ford with a marketing hook to fit in with the company’s multi-year thrust to become the fuel economy leader.

It will also help meet the government’s fuel economy mandate that automakers must achieve by 2016, according to Kelley Blue Book. However, the emphasis will compete for attention with the fuel economy of Ford Fiesta subcompact car that also gets about 40 mpg on the highway and the hybrid Ford Fusion mid-size city that gets 41 mpg and the hybrid Lincoln MKZ. at 40 miles per gallon really focuses on hybrids.

Focus has not yet been confirmed by the U.S. EPA and Ford refused to share its expected fuel economy for city driving. Yet, 40 miles per gallon, fuel consumption is better than the Corolla from 2010 at 34 mpg, the Civic 2011 at 36 mpg, the Chevrolet Cruze 2011 at 35 miles per gallon, the Sentra 2011 at 34 mpg and 2010 Elantra at 34 mpg,

Ford FocusThe Ford Focus base model will be powered by 2.0-liter engine with direct injection four-cylinder with automatic transmission. Nine out of 10 North American customers buy an automatic transmission in the compact models. A version of the Chevrolet Cruze called Eco should generate 40 mpg on the highway. Eco comes with a 1.4-liter, 138 horsepower four-cylinder engine and manual transmission.

Hughes said Ford expects to reach the mark of the fuel economy with a combination of features, including direct injection technology that burns more fuel than traditional engines and improved aerodynamics. Special features include side mirrors, a flat shield under the engine that improves air circulation and front grille fins that are electronically controlled to improve airflow.

Ford Focus the first truly global car from Ford arrived in 2006 and led the company on the way to the development of global platforms for most of their cars and SUVs. Ford plans to build 10 cross-overs on the platform and hopes to sell more than 2 million compact vehicles worldwide by 2012. Ford selling its Ford Fiesta subcompact car worldwide was launched in Europe in 2008, China in 2009 and North America in 2010.

Ford reduced its total marketing costs for coordinating the marketing of the Global Approach two years ago, and added assets to create a team that was needed in the complex area of driving down the massive costs in production of Ford hatchbacks, sedans and station wagons, and the Focus, as well as a performance version the Focus ST unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. Ford plans to sell all of these versions in the U.S.
