Much of what attracts people to boating is aesthetic. Beauty in a boat is more satisfying than speed or space or innovative design. You can buy a boat to club race now, then sail around the world in later, but it will only do one or the other-or neither-well. Whatever your idea of a fine-looking boat is, that should be the starting point in your search.
If speed is not already important to you, don’t let someone discourage you from buying a boat you like because it is “slow.”
