Classic Car Restoration is considered an art. Authenticity in classic car restoration is paramount, and everything must be “original” and exactly as it was when the vehicle left the factory.

The perfectionists who judge classic cars have been known to penalize seemingly perfect cars for minor transgressions like having the wrong washer on an exhaust bracket or incorrect weather stripping around the windshield (the difference between taking the trophy and going home empty-handed).

Many of these classics require a complete machine shop in which long gone parts may be re-created, a body and paint shop to restore or create the autos’ outer layer, a mechanical shop to take apart and rebuild engines and other parts, an upholstery shop for the interiors, and years of experience and craftsmanship.

classic car restorationSome would call spending thousands (sometimes hundreds of thousands) of dollars and countless hours to attain restoration perfection an obsession, and many people who spend bushels of cash on classic car restoration never drive the vehicle.
