Enterprise Car Rental was founded in 1957, with seven cars, by Jack Taylor in St. Louis. Named for the USS Enterprise on which Jack served, Enterprise Car Rental now has more than 5,500 offices located throughout the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland and Germany. Enterprise is currently number 16 on the Forbes “500 Largest Private Companies in America” list.”

In the 1970′s Enterprize moved it’s focus from airports to neighborhoods. As the rest of the rental car industry fiercely competed at the edge of America’s runways, Jack took car rentals to where customers lived and worked. By 1996, Enterprise Car Rental had become the largest rental car company in North America with more than a half million vehicles in service.
